We know that Cerebral Palsy (C.P.) is a condition, not an identity or even a disease.

Hope for Cerebral Palsy - Wise Move

The Feldenkrais Method® is unlike other therapies in that practitioners are taught to sense and understand the nervous system’s available pathways; in doing so new pathways start to emerge within the system.  As we move through very slow, comfortable movements the nervous system has a chance to recognize areas that may not have been developed, and can start to integrate movement within our system. Children with C.P. can sense these abilities as well, thus enabling them to learn how to integrate movement within themselves. It can be amazing to suddenly feel something completely different.

When a child comes to a session it is important for us to get a good understanding of how the child is experiencing life emotionally, physically and socially.  We would then show the child movements that are already available to them, so that they can then understand how to create new patterns of movement within themselves and their environment.  Once this happens the child starts to learn new options and becomes intrigued with newfound possibilities.

Life is not a stable process. Our ability to recover is our greatest quality.
